Lifetime Health Medical Group Welcomes McPhee, New Physician

NEWS RELEASE - October 29, 2007

ROCHESTER, NY— Catherine McPhee, M.D., has joined Lifetime Health Medical Group. She is a board-certified family medicine practitioner. Her practice is located at the Perinton Health Center.

McPhee was most recently a resident physician with Harbor-UCLA Family Medicine, in Torrance, Calif., in an urban, underserved community in the Los Angeles County system. While there, she also was director and clinician for the Harbor-UCLA Family Medicine Homeless Clinic and clinician/preceptor, Common Grounds Teen Homeless Clinic in Venice, Calif. Additionally, she coordinated a number of health fairs for the underserved or developmentally disabled population.

In January of 2006, McPhee, in conjunction with Northwest Medical Teams, obtained medical supplies, established a temporary clinic, and provided care and support to Balakot/Satbani, Pakistan, a rural, displaced community in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains (where no medical workers had previously traveled) following the devastating October 2005 earthquake. She also traveled to Tecate, Mexico, to work at a quarterly health fair/medical clinic there for the underserved residents of that city, and was a co-coordinator and laborer in efforts to restore impoverished neighborhoods and rebuild community centers in Trenchtown, Jamaica.

McPhee earned her Bachelor of Science in biology from St. Bonaventure University, Allegany, N.Y., and her Medical Doctorate from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine. The recipient of a number of academic awards and honors, she spent a semester of her undergraduate work abroad in Limerick, Ireland and was involved in many service programs throughout her years in college and medical school. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and Doctors for Peace.
