AfterHours Available This Holiday Season

NEWS RELEASE — December 16, 2009

WHAT: AfterHours Urgent Care, urgent care for minor injuries and illnesses by same-day appointment, is available this holiday season at three locations in both the Buffalo and Rochester regions. The service is open to all community residents.

WHY: AfterHours is an alternative to long waits and high costs of emergency rooms when a person has a minor injury or illness instead of a true emergency. AfterHours is intended to support a patient’s regular primary care at times when his or her doctor’s office is closed, such as on holidays.

BUFFALO LOCATIONS:

  • Amherst Health Center, 1185 Sweet Home Rd ( ½ mile from the corner of Maple and Sweet Home)
  • Mosher Health Center, 899 Main St, (at Main & Carlton)
  • West Seneca Health Center, 120 Gardenville Pkwy West, (off of Union Rd near French)

BUFFALO HOLIDAY HOURS: Call 716/656-4040 for a same-day appointment.

  • *Christmas Eve, December 24, 2009; 12 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (all sites)
  • Christmas Day, closed
  • New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2009; 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., Mosher and W. Seneca, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Amherst
  • *New Year’s Day, January 1, 2010; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Amherst and W. Seneca, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Mosher

*The appointment line will be open starting at 8 a.m. on December 24 and January 1.

ROCHESTER LOCATIONS:

  • Folsom Health Center, 1850 Brighton-Henrietta TL Rd.
  • Greece Health Center, 470 Long Pond Rd.
  • Wilson Health Center, 800 Carter St

ROCHESTER HOLIDAY HOURS: Call 585/338-1200 for a same-day appointment. Appointment line hours (availability of appointments varies by site):

  • Christmas Eve, December 24, 2009; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Christmas Day, closed
  • New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2009; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • New Year’s Day, January 1, 2010; 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

HOW:  Call ahead to minimize your wait time in center. A registered nurse will answer your call and give you a same day appointment. Nearly all local insurances are accepted. Individuals do not need to be a regular patient of Lifetime Health to use AfterHours, and a report of the visit is forwarded to the individual’s doctor the following day. An urgent care copay is due at the time of visit, and it is generally less expensive than an emergency room copay. For individuals without insurance, or in the small number of instances where a specific insurance is not accepted, payment is due at time of service.
