Home > About > History > Rochester History Our History in RochesterServing the Community for More Than 30 YearsLifetime Health Medical Group has always been a leader in health care delivery. Founded as Group Health Medical Centers in 1973, we led the way in the evolution of both the group model HMO and the group practice of physicians with the opening of the Joseph C. Wilson Center at a time when group practice--primary and specialty physicians and ancillary services in one location--was new to Rochester. Consumer demand for comprehensive center-based care resulted in the opening of three other health centers: the Marion B. Folsom Center (located in the Brighton-Henrietta area), the Greece and Perinton Centers. Today, Lifetime Health Medical Group also operates several affiliated family practices, internal medicine and pediatric offices located throughout the area, including Artemis Health, a primary care practice exclusively for women and staffed by female physicians. A Family Medicine Practice for deaf and hard of hearing patients is located at the Marion B. Folsom Center. In the fall of 2004, we changed our name to Lifetime Health Medical Group. This new identity reflects our continuing committment to providing our patients with easy access to quality health care. Today, Lifetime Health Medical Group exists as a versatile, primary health care delivery system and accepts patients with most insurance plans available in our community including Blue Choice, Blue Choice Option/Medicaid, Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, viaHealth plan, Preferred Care, Medicare Parts A & B, and other plans offered by commercial carriers such as Metropolitan, and Union Local programs. In addition to primary care, Lifetime Health Medical Group provides a variety of comprehensive health care services including ophthalmology and eye services, podiatry, x-ray services and dermatology. |
